The United Earth Sphere Alliance

After the Earth's Nations settled their conflicts amongst each other, in AC 130 a new government, the United Earth Spare Alliance, was created. The U.E.S.A. with its military power soon took also control over those countries not supporting the new world government. In no time at all the Alliance had established total control over Earth. But it didn’t stop there. In AC 147 the Alliance Space Forces started seizing control of the Space Colonies using the excuse that the colonies were property of the nations that constructed them. In the name of Peace and Justice the Alliance brutally broke any resistance.
The United Earth Sphere Alliance stayed in power until Special Team forces in AC 195 overthrow it.

The Romefeller Foundation

The Romefeller Foundation was a large industrial group made up of European aristocrats. Most of Romefeller’s profits came from the production of weapons and mobile suits. The Foundation also financial supported the U.E.S.A.’s quest for global power. Soon the Alliance became Romefeller’s largest weapons customer.
    Oz, a company within the Romefeller Foundation, originally developed and built mobile suits as construction machines. In AC173 however Oz began to work on the first military prototype of a mobile suit, called the Tallgeese. Tallgeese however was too hard to control for the average pilot and too expensive to build. So in order to make mass-production more efficient, a new, re-design and scaled down version of mobile suit was created. The Leo became only the first military suit developed and produced by Oz and sold mainly to the U.E.S.A. The scientists originally designing the suits quit the project in protest after the Alliances started using mobile suits against the colonies. In the following years Oz developed several new versions of the military mobile suits.

The Special Mobile Suit corps

The Special Mobile Suit corps was a group made up of pilots highly trained in mobile suit combat, operating independently on Earth as well as in space. The Specials were equipped with Romefeller's newest versions of mobils suits created for specialized use on land,  under watere or in space. Officially a branch of the Alliance military, the Specials were in reality controlled by Romefeller. As members of Oz, which had become a secret society, the Specials infiltrated the Alliance military.
In AC 195, displeased with the Alliance politics, Romefeller used Oz and its Special Mobile Suit corps to overthrow the U.E.S.A and to take control over Earth.

The Pacifists

After almost 2 decades of U.E.S.A. control, in AC 165 the colonies elected a man named Heero Yuy as their leader. Yuy, an advocate of total pacifism was supposed to help the gain the independence they had been longing for. His philosophy of pacifism and demilitarization found approval not only in the colonies. Heero Yuy’s visit to Earth was a total success and for the first time in history it seemed like true peace was in reach.
But not everybody was ready for peace yet. On April 7, AC 175, an unknown assassin shot and killed Heero Yuy, causing an uproar amongst the people in the colonies. The Alliance, with their newly created mobile suits, used the unrest as a pretext to once again take control over the colonies. A permanent state of martial law was places upon the space colonies. Travel and contact between the colony clusters became prohibited.

The Peacecraft family, ruler of the Sanc Kingdom, was one of Heero Yuy’s greatest allies. They used the influence they had on other governments to promote total pacifism on Earth. Even after Yuy’s assassination they continued living by his philosophy. But the San Kingdom was also one of the countries refusing to join the U.E.S.A. and to accept Alliance rule. Aware of the great influence the Peacecrafts processed the Alliance decided to make an example of them. In AC 182 the nearly defenseless Sanc Kingdom was attacked by Alliance troops. Though they succeeded in conquering the country, their plan to wipe out the entire Peacecraft family failed. Loyal supporters of the Royal family managed to smuggle Prince Milliardo and his sister Relena out of the kingdom and to safety.
